Willyum is a POWERFUL, HUMOROUS MOTIVATIONAL PUBLIC SPEAKER
and PERFORMER
who tells it like it is
so it can become, as it should be.
Spending time with Willyum Warren is an experience. His unique public speaking style allows his audience the opportunity to laugh, sing and walk away with something useful to better themselves. Here are his thought provoking programs
Let your passion conquer your fear (15- 60 minutes)
Willyum had a traumatic experience during a speech contest in the seventh grade where he vowed not to speak in public again. Seventeen years later, he was asked to make a presentation to a first grade class for his job as a fireman/paramedic. Still fearful, he made the presentation and eventually worked his way up to adults. Willyum’s motivating talk will convince you “If I can do it, you can do it.”
From Harlem to Caucasian Falls (15- 60 minutes)
This is an inspiring talk based on a book that Willyum is currently writing about his life growing up in NYC. Join him on a journey through the streets of Harlem filled with drugs, pimps, prostitutes and other factors waiting around the corner to land him in jail or worse in the grave. Circumstances present themselves and he leaves an all black community to find himself living in an all white community in which he becomes the first African-American firefighter on the fire department.
This is my Country (15- 60 minutes)
The Warren family has served this country well. Willyum’s maternal grandfather served in the US Army during World War II. His father also served in the US Army during World War II. Willyum served honorably in the US Army in Asia during the Vietnam War and if not for the death of his wife he would have made a career of the military. Both of his children have served in the US Navy. This talk is as patriotic as it gets. A member of the VFW and the American Legion Willyum shares his love for America. “American is not perfect, no country is but I challenge you to show me a country that people are moving to like they move to America. There isn’t any!”
Black History (15- 60 minutes)
A 1st person character impersonation. Willyum portrays John Malvin, a free black man who was born in the slave state of Virginia. Looking for more opportunity John left Virginia on foot eventually arriving in the “free” state of Ohio. Settling in Cincinnati he eventually became a Baptist minister and met Harriet who became his wife. After a humiliating incident at the hands of a Kentucky sheriff they headed north for Canada. Although they never made it to Canada they settled in Cleveland where they became prominent citizens. John and Harriet were founding members of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland where he fought against segregation. He organized the first black school in Cleveland and became an advocate for education of the Negro. An abolitionist he was a spokesman for the Cleveland and Ohio Antislavery Society which caused him to travel throughout Ohio encouraging white citizens to put pressure on Washington, DC to abolish slavery in the south. A master carpenter by trade. John was the first black to own a canal boat in NE Ohio. This performance is very entertaining and informative of the black laws in Ohio in the 19th century.
